Vowing to “just create havoc,” Washington Redskins first-round draft pick Brian Orakpo signed his contract this morning and did limited work during a two-hour practice at Redskin Park.
Orakpo and the Redskins agreed to terms late Thursday night – he got the call when celebrating his birthday with his fiancée at a restaurant in Austin, Texas.
“I don’t like missing work but there’s a business side to this and I‘m glad it was done very quick,” he said after practice.
Orakpo participated in the first hour, doing individual drills with the linebackers before shifting over to observe the defensive line. He is expected to fully involved during today’s second session.
Talks accelerated throughout Thursday as the Redskins went through their first two workouts.
“I was glad more than surprised,” coach Jim Zorn of the agreement.
*Linebacker Robert Henson (calf) went down late in practice but is fine. Running back Dominque Dorsey (cramps) sat out. Receiver Keith Eloi was carried out of the cold tub – his condition is unavailable.
