The NFL draft has taken place in mid-late April every year dating to 1986. But the current tentative league calendar has the 2010 draft happening on the weekend of May 1-2. May 1 also happens to be the date of the Kentucky Derby.

Of course, the NFL is mulling moving the draft to Prime Time, perhaps on Thursday and Friday nights. If that occurred in 2010, only the less-watched final rounds would conflict with the Derby.

I’ll keep you posted (pun intended) on this.
