R. Thomas vows to return

His triceps muscle surgically repaired, Redskins RG Randy Thomas said he hasn’t thought about his future, only that it includes him playing in 2010.

“I’ve never had that thought in my mind,” Thomas said today in the locker room about his latest injury ending his career. “Mentally in my mind, I’m never giving up until I say enough is enough.”

Thomas spoke publicly for the first time since being hurt against St. Louis on Sept. 20. He had surgery last week — the third such operation for a triceps injury in the last four years.

“It’s never fun to know your season is over,” Thomas said. “I’m just glad I got the surgery done and on my way to get back and help where ever I can off the team, especially with Rinehart, and help him.”

Elsewhere in the locker room …

*I was able to confirm that on the failed fourth-and-goal play from the 1-yard line, FB Mike Sellers blocked Julian Peterson instead of Larry Foote, which allowed Foote to pursue unblocked and stop Clinton Portis.

*Portis said his ankles aren’t bothering him but who knows what the real truth is.

*Players said coach Jim Zorn’s message to them this morning had no earth-shattering news. Zorn will remain the play caller and the game plan will have the same volume.
