Roger Bernadina, who started in center field today after Elijah Dukes was benched for arriving late to the ballpark, just made a spectacular catch of Dan Uggla’s deep drive to the wall in the top of the eighth.

But the catch came at a price. Bernadina injured himself on the play, appearing to get his right ankle caught at the base of the fence as he made the catch. Manager Manny Acta and trainer Lee Kuntz raced from the dugout and wound up helping Bernadina walk off through the gate in center field to a waiting stretcher.

Dukes entered to finish out the inning. The Nats still lead 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth.
