Nyjer Morgan just put on a show in the top of the first inning. He drew a walk to open the game, then stole second, then stole third, then scored on Cristian Guzman’s double to right. Impressive stuff from the speedster.

Unfortunately, Morgan also injured himself in the process. He jammed his left hand into third base on a hard, headfirst slide on that second steal. By the time the inning ended and the Nats took the field, Willie Harris replaced him in center field.

No word on how severe the injury is. It’s probably not too much to be concerned about. But after watching the Nats play without Morgan the last two days (he had flu-like symptoms) and then after seeing what he did there in the top of the first, you realize what a difference this guy makes.
