This just in from the field down in Viera,Fla.

Nationals general manager Jim Bowden (more on him here) just told reporters on the field as workouts were starting that the team released Odalis Perez.


Not that the pitcher is there or has a locker to clean out. No, last year’s opening day starter is still incommunicado, having refused to report after agreeing to a non-gauranteed deal on Feb. 5.

Sunday was the mandatory reporting date for all players in major league camps, and the 31-year-old left-hander remained at home, still having made contact with no one on the team.
