Current Nationals television analyst may be in negotiations to return to Atlanta, where he previously worked 18 seasons in the booth for the Braves, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. (H/T to DCRTV for pointing out the story.)

According to the AJC, the Braves are trying to work out a deal to free Sutton from his current contract with the Nationals. Sutton has worked alongside play-by-play man Bob Carpenter each of the last two seasons.

Mid-Atlantic Sports Network spokesman Todd Webster said the network had no comment. Sutton did not immediately return an e-mail requesting comment on the report. Carpenter declined to comment.

While the team of Carpenter and Sutton has been generally well-received, the two have never been entirely comfortable working with one another, a MASN source told the Washington Times last year. The Nationals last year were reluctant to renew Carpenter’s contract, in part because of Sutton, the team said. The team eventually signed Carpenter after a fans wrote letters of support.
