Hello from Port St. Lucie, where the Nats start a home-and-home matchup with the Mets (followed by one more on Tuesday, just in case the Nats’ scouts need to do a little more homework on Daniel Murphy). Here’s the lineup for today’s game, followed by an update on a few injuries:
Now, the injuries:
—Austin Kearns (left hand blister) hit off coaches yesterday, and the Nationals hope to get him in the lineup tomorrow.
—Wily Mo Pena (strained right shoulder) is doing soft toss and will be a few more days.
—Dmitri Young (back tightness) still isn’t doing any work on the field.
—Shawn Hill (sore elbow) will resume throwing on Monday. Acta said from this point, if Hill experiences more pain, the Nationals will have to see if he can pitch through it like he did last year. “Whether for the rest of his career, he’s going to be going out there and have to tolerate pain, that’s to be seen. We’ve seen guys recover from injuries and have a 5, 6, 10-year career. This is going to be a good test.”
