The Washington Times - May 11, 2009, 06:06PM

When the Nats’ May 3 game against the Cardinals was rained out, we all knew it was going to be difficult to find a makeup date. The Cards had no more scheduled trips to D.C., and there were only a couple of common off-days between the two teams.

Well, one of those (Thursday, July 23) has now been chosen for the makeup game, with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. The Cardinals will have to make a special trip to the District in between series at Houston and Philadelphia. The Nats will already be at home but now will lose an off-day and will have to open the second half of the season with 25 consecutive gamedays. (The CBA says teams can’t play more than 20 straight days, but exceptions can be made in these types of cases, with the approval of the players union.)

For those who had tickets to the original May 3 rainout, here’s the exchange policy, straight from the Nats’ press release…

“Season-ticket and mini-plan holders, whose ticket plans include tickets for the postponed May 3 contest, should retain their tickets for use during the rescheduled game on July 23.

“Those with individual-game tickets (all non-season and non-mini-plan tickets) to the postponed May 3 contest may use those tickets for the same seats to the July 23 contest or may exchange their tickets for any other 2009 Nationals regular-season home game, excluding the three-game series against the Boston Red Sox from June 23-25.

“Individual-game ticket holders can exchange their tickets at the Nationals Park Main Box Office, located at the corner of M and Half Streets, SE. Nationals Park Box Office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All rain check exchanges are subject to availability.”

OK, in baseball news, Jesus Flores is again out of the Nats’ lineup tonight, still suffering from a bruised right shoulder after getting tagged by a foul tip Saturday night. I would imagine Flores is going to push hard to return tomorrow night, but we’ll see what Manny Acta has to say about that.

So here is tonight’s lineup against The Big Unit and the Giants…

SS Cristian Guzman

1B Nick Johnson

3B Ryan Zimmerman

RF Adam Dunn

CF Elijah Dukes

LF Josh Willingham

2B Ronnie Belliard
