First: Ryan Zimmerman’s hitting streak is at 1. He drove in Nick Johnson with a single up the middle in the third inning.

Second: The Nats are going to have a look at the Phillies’ bullpen very soon. They’ve already drawn five walks off Joe Blanton, and aside from bagging a few runs (the Nationals lead 4-1), it’s going to force the Phillies to trot out a handful of relievers a day before a doubleheader. Blanton has thrown 78 pitches through three innings, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him gone after the fourth.

John Lannan hasn’t exactly been sharp, by comparison—he’s only thrown 34 of 56 for strikes and his breaking pitches seem a little flat, which is a recipe for disaster against this team. But he got out of a second-inning jam with only a run, thanks to Wil Nieves retrieving his would-be wild pitch in time for Lannan to tag out Pedro Feliz at home plate.
