OK, not a whole lot of hype about this one like there was about Georgetown vs. Maryland, but George Washington and American are playing for the first time since Jan. 2, 2003. And at least they’re playing in the District, as opposed to 900 miles away.

Two AU players, Derrick Mercer and Garrison Carr, are getting close the the 1,000-point mark. Mercer is sitting on 981 and Carr on 979. It would take a breakout game for either to do it, as both have struggled during the Eagles’ three-game losing streak.

GW’s best is forward Damian Hollis, who scored a career-high 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting against Harvard last week. It’ll be incumbent on AU’s frontcourt to keep Hollis from setting a new career high.

Here are the starting lineups:

AU (4-4)

G Derrick Mercer

G Garrison Carr

F Brian Gilmore

F Frank Borden

C Frane Markusovic

GW (4-2)

G Xavier Alexander

G Tony Taylor

F Rob Diggs

F Damian Hollis

C Joseph Katuka
