Well, in keeping with the theme of former Maryland commits making their Division I debuts this month, it’s time to roll out the results of Tyree Evans‘ first game at Kent State.

The junior college transfer, whose rap sheet ultimately led him to leave Maryland before he even arrived, wound up walking on with the Golden Flashes, where his JUCO coach was hired as an assistant. And Evans dropped 21 points on a woeful (read: Kyle Hines-less) UNC Greensboro last night.

Evans’ debut comes less than a week after Gus Gilchrist made his first appearance for South Florida. Gilchrist, who also was released from his scholarship at Maryland back in the spring, wasn’t quite so explosive.

With all that in mind, it’ll be a lot easier for Maryland fans to ignore what these guys are up to so long as the Terps keep winning. And with Maryland (7-2) at home for the next six games, chances are good there won’t be many look-ins on Evans and Gilchrist until mid-January at the earliest.
