It was absurdly early last year when Navy opened its lacrosse season on Feb. 9. In fact, with the noon start it was the earliest opener in Division I history.

Well, they’ll go ahead and meet again on a Saturday in early February. Except this time it’ll be on Feb. 7.

So while the thought of thinking lacrosse quite that early sends a bit of shive down even my spine, here’s the full rundown of Navy’s 2009 schedule, which includes the return of North Carolina to regular-season slate:

Feb. 7: VMI, noon
Feb. 14: Ohio State, noon
Feb. 20: at North Carolina, 7:30
Feb. 28: at Bucknell, 1

March 3: at Mount St. Mary’s, 3
March 7: Lafayette, noon
March 10: at Lehigh, 7
March 14: at Holy Cross, 3
March 21: Colgate, noon
March 28: at Georgetown, 1

April 3: Maryland, 7
April 11: vs. Army, 11:30 a.m. in Baltimore
April 18: at Johns Hopkins, 2
April 24-26: Patriot League tournament, TBA
