BOISE, Idaho – Why in the world would a Navy fan care how well Maryland’s defense fares today?

Maybe because the Midshipmen need the Terps to not get rolled over on the ground to win the national rushing title for the fourth straight year.

Granted, a few other teams have a chance to pass Navy. But Nevada has the best chance as it enters the Humanitarian Bowl just 304 yards behind the Midshipmen.

The Wolf Pack could threaten or surpass that today with a strong effort. Here’s a look at how the Midshipmen (8-5) stand; all four teams immediately behind them in rushing yardage play in the next two days.
