A quick note on Navy’s long and illustrious history of rematches.

That’s a joke, of course. It is not a deep list, or a particularly illustrious one.

If the Midshipmen had played Notre Dame or Army twice in a year, it’d be pretty cool. But they haven’t.

Nope, the only school Navy’s ever had a rematch with a single season is St. John’s.

That’s the tiny school in Annapolis, not the one known in recent years for playing mediocre basketball in Queens.

So, since it’s easy to replicate, here are all of Navy’s single-season rematches —- a list this year’s two meetings with Wake Forest will join after the Dec. 20 EagleBank Bowl. Navy beat the Demon Deacons 24-17 on Sept. 27.

Oct. 2: Navy 26-0
Oct. 16: Navy 12-0

Date unknown: St. John’s 6-4
Dec. 9: St. John’s 22-6

Navy 4-0
Navy 24-0

Navy 12-0
St. John’s 4-0
