Virginia’s winning streak is over. And, honestly, it was probably more impressive than nearly anything the Cavaliers did last year.

Well, besides winning 48-0 in Miami’s the last game at the Orange Bowl.

Payback came today, with the Hurricanes rallying for a late touchdown, then scoring in overtime and forcing a a fumble from Cedric Peerman to secure a 24-17 victory.

So the Hurricanes are now bowl eligible, and the ACC’s Coastal Division is officially a flat-out scrum.

Still, a single loss shouldn’t diminish Virginia’s impressive resurrection act in October. Al Groh probably won’t win the ACC’s coach of the year award, but if the Cavaliers win just once more this season he’d probably be more deserving than he was last fall.
