Greivis Vasquez, with his full arsenal of humor, jokingly wondered why anyone would want to talk to him after Friday night’s game against Vermont.

Oh, maybe something about 26 points or hitting a 3-pointer that forced overtime had something to do with it.

And that performance – coupled with a 28-point outing against Youngstown State – earned Vasquez an ACC player of the week nod.

In the two games, Vasquez averaged 27 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals, which is pretty good regardless of the competition.

It is Vasquez’s second career player of the week honor; he shared it with Boston College’s Tyrese Rice for a pair of stat-stuffing games against Duke and Florida State last February.

Virginia’s Sylven Landesberg won the league’s rookie of the week honor.
