CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Darrius Heyward-Bey is watching this one in a jersey and warmup pants, and so far things aren’t as bad as they could be.

But here’s a promise: Someone will deserve a grilling if Maryland intentionally runs the ball more than a dozen times in the final three quarters.

The run isn’t working (Da’Rel Scott: four carries, -1 yard), and it isn’t going to work against this defensive line unless Chris Turner really softens up Boston College’s defense with a lot of underneath passing.

The coolest thing seen here in the first quarter: BC linebacker Mike McLaughlin hopping over Davin Meggett and sacking Turner. The act of leaping over a blocking back was amusing enough on its own.

Turner’s made some good throws early, and he’s also nearly had one picked off. Any such mistake could spell disaster today, especially considering the way Boston College shredded the Terps on its first drive.

Second half is getting underway, and the Terps are off schedule.

More to come at the half.
