CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Upon arriving in Providence this morning, the first thing I saw was Red Sox-Rays ALCS t-shirts available for $6.99.

Not exactly what reminds you of ACC football.

Fortunately, the first half here reminds me ACC football indeed lives here in the Boston ‘burbs.

The good: Both defenses have fared well here in the second quarter. The bad: It’s tough to tell how much to pin that on the offenses.

In fact, the only score of the second quarter might as well be credited to the BC defense.

Mark Herzlich intercepted Chris Turner with 1:14 before the break. On the next play, receiver Rich Gunnell was probably surprised to learn there were no white shirts in the 607 area code; he caught a 45-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7.

Boston College tailback Josh Haden is being evaluated for a right shoulder injury, so that’s something to keep an eye on. But in reality, the Terps need to catch a break; they’ve already given Boston College one just before halftime.
