Maryland didn’t get great news from Kevin Barnes MRI exam on Monday.

How bad the news is isn’t exactly known.

The senior cornerback’s shoulder injury is serious enough to keep him out Saturday against N.C. State. It was initially diagnosed as a partially dislocated left shoulder, and Ralph Friedgen was reluctant to announce any update today since doctors had not yet conferred with Barnes.

Either way, that is not a great development for the Terps, who just got cornerback Nolan Caroll to return to the lineup on Saturday.

Other players out this week: LB Louis Berman, T Tyler Bowen, WR Kevin Dorsey, TE Matt Furstenburg, LB Stephen Hargett, S Dominique Herald, RB Paul Lariviere, LB Adrian Moten, LB Ben Pooler, CB Richard Taylor and DL Joe Vellano.

More to come shortly.
