Ralph Friedgen re-iterated the rejiggered offensive line with Bruce Campbell at left tackle and Scott Burley at right tackle would be in effect again this week.

That worked well against Wake Forest on Saturday —- Campbell’s play in particular. The sophomore —- listed at a stout 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds —- was the conference’s offensive lineman of the week and was especially effective at protecting quarterback Chris Turner.

(A little side story. I asked Edwin Williams about the similarities between Campbell and the even more massive Jared Gaither, and Williams deadpanned “They’re the same person.”)

Anyway, one thing to look for this week is maybe a little more of erstwhile starting tackle Dane Randolph, who was hobbled with an ankle injury. The senior did get in on field goals and PATs —- I know this from watching a tape of the first half and remarking “Wow, Randolph did play.” —- and he should assume some of the reserve snaps at right tackle this week.

That work went to Jack Griffin against Wake. Look for Griffin to play mostly at right guard, assuming Randolph is good to go.
