There are 65 voters in the AP football poll.
Almost half —- 31 —-put Maryland on a ballot this week.
It was enough to vault the Terrapins into the rankings for the first time since Nov. 12, 2006. Maryland lost at Boston College later that week and haven’t been heard from since.
The Terps rank as high as No. 18 (John Hunt of the Oregonian), and esteemed Raleigh News & Observer blogger Joe Giglio puts Maryland at No. 20.
I haven’t figured out what to do with Maryland in the D1scourse 30, mainly because I haven’t had time to think about it but also because I’m waiting for tonight’s Tulsa-Central Florida game before offering rankings for the week.
In case anyone was wondering where Navy got its two points, both came from a 24th-place vote courtesy of Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.
