Not a real surprise here given the overall list of nominees this week —- Maryland didn’t have an ACC player of the week.

No Maryland offensive skill position player came close to Hakeem Nicks‘ insane four-touchdown day. With no one producing dominant numbers at running back or quarterback, it’s time to consider Nicks as probably the legitimate front-runner for ACC player of the year. Snagging 47 balls for 782 yards and seven touchdowns over eight games is pretty good.

Maryland defensive tackle Jeremy Navarre might have played his best game of the season, but a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss doesn’t quite match Florida State’s Everette Brown (four TFLs, three sacks).

Among the commonwealth schools, Virginia tackle Will Barker played every offensive snap as the Cavaliers rolled up 396 yards total offense at Georgia Tech to take offensive lineman of the week.
