Just got done listening to Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer‘s teleconference, and it was extremely quarterback heavy.

That’s understandable, since starter Tyrod Taylor suffered a high left ankle sprain on the first play of the game Saturday and backup Sean Glennon also sprained his left ankle later on in the afternoon.

The Hokies (5-3, 2-2 ACC) had to turn to fifth-year senior Cory Holt, who moved from quarterback to wideout late last season.

Virginia Tech athletic trainer Mike Goforth said both Taylor and Glennon would be listed as questionable for next week, and that both will remain in walking boots through at least Friday.

Beamer declined to estimate the chances of either Taylor or Glennon playing against Maryland.

“They tell me they’re going to be in a boot this week,” Beamer said. “I don’t have percentages.”
