Just in from the ACC … Greivis Vasquez was the ACC’s player of the week, per a vote of writers throughout the conference.

Vasquez averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in defeats of Winston-Salem State (27-8-11) and Florida Atlantic (26-8-5).

It’s the fifth time Vasquez has won the award in his career, the most among active players. Only two other current ACC players —- Jon Scheyer (three) and Trevor Booker (two) —- have secured the award more than once.

In any case anyone is wondering if Vasquez can make a run at the league record, it’s highly unlikely. Antawn Jamison and J.J. Redick both won it 12 times in their respective careers.
