We’re still about 15 minutes away from Ralph Friedgen‘s press conference here in the Gossett team house, and he’ll chat about all of today’s signees —- probably more than enough.

But the question quickly becomes how do they all fit. Maryland entered the day with 26 commitments, and have 62 scholarships tentatively allocated to returning players. Some elementary math means the Terps would be three slots over the limit if those numbers hold up.

That’s certainly not as bad a spot as a year ago, when Maryland was on the hook for 92 guys when signing day was over. But attrition of some form or another wound up opening nine slots, as Chris Clinton, Evan Eastburn, Stephen Smalls, Pha’Terrell Washington and Brian Whitmore left, Cody Blue, Eteyen Edet and Zack Kerr went to prep school and Tyler Bass was released from his scholarship and wound up at Memphis.

Should be interesting to see just what combination of in-program attrition and guys forced to go to prep school because of qualifying issues arises in the coming month.
