Dave Leitao just wrapped up his segment on the ACC teleconference, and he mentioned the logistical nightmares that could come if he tried to take his team to tomorrow’s inauguration even if Virginia didn’t play that night.

It’s understandable, especially since getting a hotel room was a logistical nightmare for Leitao’s team.

The Cavaliers’ coach said by the time the schedule came out in August, the opportunity to secure rooms at the usual hotel were gone. Presumably, the “usual hotel” is the Greenbelt Marriott, which is where seemingly every team under the sun stays when they play at Maryland.

Instead, Virginia is, according to Leitao, in the state of Maryland and about 30 miles from College Park. And since that’s just a tick above the one-way mileage from D1scourse’s Glen Burnie headquarters to CP, it wouldn’t be surprising if Virginia is spending the next 24+ hours at a hotel near BWI Airport.

“We’re not as close as we’d like to be,” Leitao said.

That said, Virginia played it smart and made it across the Potomac as early as possible. There’s a lot of people who will be dealing with travel headaches in the next couple days, but the Cavaliers have done as much as possible to offset any such problems in advance.
