Just handed a release here at Comcast Center about Jin Soo Kim, the freshman forward who was declared academically ineligible for the spring semester (which started yesterday).

Kim will appeal the ruling, but won’t be eligible to play until those appeals are heard.

Maryland officials said they would not be more specific about Kim’s academic issues, but the school probably managed to say something without actually saying it by noting “Kim is enrolled in a university program to students for whom English is a second language.”

Kim, by the way, averaged 1.7 points in 15 games before the ineligibility declaration.
