Maryland coach Gary Williams was just getting done explaining why it was good to have forward Steve Goins back at practice —- for reasons beyond “he’s no longer hurt” —- when he touched on a crucial component to tomorrow’s game against Morgan State.
“They’re ridiculous in terms of their offensive rebounds,” Williams said.

Then he proceeded to rifle through his practice folder for his statistical report on the Bears.
It took him a few moments. Finally, he came up with the sheet he wanted.
“They’ve outrebounded their opponents offensively by like … a thousand,” Williams said.
Not quite. The stats reveal the edge is 223-153, which is a pretty substantial margin —- an average of more than five a game.
So the Bears (5-8) happen to rebound well. And if they do tomorrow, the likely MEAC contenders have a decent chance to hang around with Maryland for a while at Comcast Center.
