ATLANTA —- The other day in College Park, Maryland coach Gary Williams made an interesting remark about how he’s been dubbed as a guy who only uses one system even if only a fraction of the Terrapins’ plays come out of the flex.

“We run a lot of plays, we have a reputation,” Williams said. “Three of them are basically the flex. If you want to call me a flex coach, that’s fine. I sell flex videos, so I am a flex coach.”


This, of course, elicited a laugh. And it is true; Williams has put together a DVD of his offense in action.

Other than mentioning it made me chortle, not much else needs to be said. The irony is obvious.
