Good afternoon from Bender Arena on the campus of The American University. A nice crowd on hand, and while there are no E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES chants like where I’m from, it’s still a boisterous group.

Top-seeded AU is seeking its second straight (and second ever) trip to the NCAA tournament. Second-seeded Holy Cross is trying to reassert its dominance of the PL.

With Maryland‘s status still up in the air, AU could be the only local team in the field.

The matchup that could be to AU’s advantage is in the backcourt, with seniors Derrick Mercer and Garrison Carr. The Eagles will have to watch out inside for center Eric Meister. The 6-foot-8 junior could cause problems for a small AU squad.

Enjoy the game, and I’ll be back with more updates at halftime.
