Greetings from Tallahassee, Fla., which obviously is not courtside at Comcast Center.
Colleague Mark Zuckerman will be covering tonight’s game for the e-edition (the first of four straight games I’ll miss, since the cost of heading to Maui is a tough sell these days), but that doesn’t mean there can’t be some predictions to offer.
1. Greivis Vasquez will have a breakout game —- at least compared to the last two. The senior has struggled with his shot in the No. 25 Terrapins’ first two games, and he’s simply due for a more Vasquez-like outing. Here’s calling 18 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals tonight against New Hampshire.
2. Sean Mosley will go 3-for-3. The sophomore didn’t piece together back-to-back double-digit scoring nights all of last season, then pulled it off in consecutive games to start this year. Look for another dozen points or so from the Baltimore native.
3. Maryland will snag a rebounding edge —- but probably not by much. This is going to bear monitoring all season. The Terps’ did outrebound Fairfield after splitting the glass with Charleston Southern. There’s still a couple more games before the level of play intensifies, and that means Maryland should be more effective with its rebounding as it tries to build up toward the toughest stretch of its nonconference schedule.
