With a lot going on Tuesday, I forgot to blog this little tale.

But if nothing else, it demonstrates Ralph Friedgen hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

Friedgen went out recruiting last weekend, and at one of the high school games he ran into the owner of one of his favorite restaurants. She was there because it was her son’s senior day.

“She came up to me, and I was congratulating her and everything, and she said ‘You’re coming over for dinner tonight,’” Friedgen said. “I said ‘I’m coming over for dinner tonight?’ She said ‘Yeah, your whole family is coming to the restaurant tonight for dinner. Didn’t you know about it?’”

Don’t you just love those sorts of moments.

“I said ‘I don’t think I was invited. I have a game to go to tonight,’” Friedgen said. “My wife had arranged this five-course without me so. She must want to keep me on my diet. Would your wife do something like that.”

A reporter in the front row quickly said yes.

“Good, I’m not alone,” Friedgen said.
