A couple quick hits while waiting for the official injury report from Maryland.
* A guess on left tackle Bruce Campbell‘s status: Questionable.

“I don’t know if Bruce will be ready or not. We’ll see,” coach Ralph Friedgen said.
Needless to say, Maryland has a better chance to win with its starting left tackle in the game than on the sideline nursing a left knee injury.
* How about this surprise: Defensive tackle Joe Vellano might just make his debut Saturday.
Vellano, you might remember, suffered a stress fracture in his right foot during camp and has yet to play. Friedgen said a few weeks back he didn’t expect to see Vellano play until the Duke game at the earliest.
Turns out the redshirt freshman got back a bit faster than even the team’s medical personnel thought.
“They’re even a little surprised he’s at full speed,” Friedgen said. “Going into this week, we thought he might get a couple of periods, maybe a team period. He’s practiced the whole practice Wednesday and Thursday and done a good job. We’re pretty pleased. He doesn’t look like he’s far off from where he was in the summer, [when] he was playing pretty good. That gives us another guy inside.”
