Eventually, Maryland will have wide receiver Nigel King‘s NCAA clearinghouse situation sorted out.
But not quite yet.
Terrapins coach Randy Edsall hinted Thursday the latest news regarding the freshman, who enrolled in January after graduating high school early, was not particularly welcome.
“We’re still going through a process with Nigel,” Edsall said. “As soon as that process is completed, we’ll let you know at that point in time. We did get word back. I’d rather not discuss that right now because there are still some things that are going on with the decision that we received and what we want to be able to do. I’ll just leave it at that until everything is a final decision with what’s taking place.”
Edsall was then asked specifically if King’s issue was known when he first signed or enrolled at Maryland.
“No,” Edsall said. “That’s why I said until things are finalized, I’d rather not say anything [about] what was rendered to us already. Let’s just see what happens as it continues to play out because there’s some things yet to play out.
