INTERSTATE 85 NEAR THE VIRGINIA-NORTH CAROLINA BORDER —- Making the trek back to D1scourse headquarters today after Maryland’s 11-point loss to North Carolina on Sunday.

There’s only so much time (and battery power) to get some stuff done, but one thing that can be taken care of is today’s notable bubble games.

That’s because there’s only two.

Take note:

* Kansas State at Texas, 9: The Wildcats have created a decent situation for themselves after beating Kansas and Missouri in the Octagon in recent weeks. Still, a superb road win would offer protection from any sort of collapse (which at this stage would mean losing to Iowa State at home and then falling in the first round of the Big 12 tournament). K-State is a fairly safe bet for the 68-team field; this would just lock the Wildcats in.

* Cal State Bakersfield at Gonzaga, 9: The Bulldogs aren’t their usual selves this year. That doesn’t mean they should have any trouble with the Roadrunners (RPI: 316). It does mean a stunning loss in the Kennel would cripple Gonzaga’s at-large chances. Realistically, that shouldn’t be an issue.
