Memorial Day has yet to come and go. College football season is still more than three months from commencing, except to people for whom it never ends.

And this is right about the right time for preseason magazines to start trickling out with their all-conference teams.

First up —- a good 101 days before Maryland’s Labor Day season opener against Miami —- is the ever-thorough Phil Steele, which goes a full four (yes, four) teams deep.

That has a tendency to lead to a lot of representation, and sure enough, that’s the case. Eight Maryland players are mentioned.

There’s punt returner Tony Logan and safety Kenny Tate on the first team. Linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield, quarterback Danny O’Brien and defensive tackle Joe Vellano is a second team pick. Nose tackle A.J. Francis is on the third team, while cornerback Cameron Chism and tailback Davin Meggett on the fourth team.

(For those wondering who tipped O’Brien out of first team status, that would be Florida State’s E.J. Manuel).

With 112 total players mentioned, Maryland checks in right around the middle of the conference in terms of representation:

17: Florida State (15 individuals; Greg Reid mentioned at CB/KR/PR)

13: Virginia Tech (11 individuals; David Wilson mentioned at RB/KR; Jayron Hosley mentioned at CB/PR)

11: Clemson
11: North Carolina

10: Miami

9: Virginia

8: Boston College
8: N.C. State

6: Duke
Georgia Tech

5: Wake Forest
