For those wondering where Maryland tailback D.J. Adams has disappeared to —- he was on the kickoff return team, but did not take a carry in the Terrapins’ 21-16 loss to Georgia Tech —- the subject of the sophomore was the first thing mentioned during coach Randy Edsall‘s press conference Tuesday.

Of course, things haven’t much changed since last week, when Edsall suggested Maryland could rely primarily on Davin Meggett and Justus Pickett going forward to handle the most of the carries.

“It’s just a decision we as coaches feel we have some other backs who deserve the carries that they’re getting,” Edsall said. “Based on performance on the field and based on our evaluation at the running back position.”

Adams was suspended for Maryland’s opener, then has 12 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns against West Virginia. But in the three games since, the burly back has six carries for 12 yards and a touchdown.

Saturday was the first time Adams played in a game and did not receive a carry since last Nov. 6 at Miami.
