Maryland coach Randy Edsall said Thursday that neither linebacker Darin Drakeford nor defensive tackle Andre Monroe have practiced this week and will not play Saturday at Georgia Tech.

Both players sat out last week’s 28-3 defeat of Towson with ankle injuries.

Drakeford was initially hurt near the end of Maryland’s Labor Day victory over Miami, and he missed the Sept. 17 West Virginia game. He returned a week later against Temple but was re-injured. Monroe suffered his injury against Temple as well.

Based on Maryland’s depth chart, freshman Lorne Goree would make his third start in four games at middle linebacker, with Demetrius Hartsfield playing on the weak side. Maurice Hampton, who made his first start at defensive tackle, is still listed as the starter at that position.
