ANNAPOLIS —- Navy’s bye week appears to have solved the Midshipmen’s injury woes at outside linebacker.

The timing —- with Air Force visiting Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday —- couldn’t be better.

Jarred Shannon, who started the opener, practiced Monday. Mason Graham, who drew the nod in the first two games, also participated in much of practice.

“He was contact today,” coach Ken Niumatalolo said. “He was in the green [noncontact] jersey, but I saw him [practicing].”

Junior Keegan Wetzel could also return. He suffered a concussion during Navy’s Sept. 10 victory at Western Kentucky and sat out the next week against South Carolina. Wetzel did not practice Monday.

“He feels good, but you still have to go through your protocol of doing all those things,” Niumatalolo said.

Navy lists co-starters at both outside linebacker positions this week. Shannon and safety Tra’ves Bush are listed at one spot, while Graham and Brye French are listed at the other position. Both Bush and French drew starts against South Carolina.
