Coach Randy Edsall said linebacker Kenny Tate, who is returning from knee surgery, is expected to be fully available when camp opens Aug. 6.
Edsall indicated Tate might not practice in both sessions of a two-a-day practice during camp as a precautionary measure.
Tate played in four games last season, collecting 35 tackles in his first season at linebacker. After missing the next three games, Tate had surgery and successfully applied for a medical hardship. He sat out spring practice while continuing his rehabilitation.
“I’m fine,” said Tate, a first-team all-ACC selection as a safety in 2010. “I’m coming along well and doing everything. I’ve been through injury before, so it’s not that bad. I knew what was to come, I knew I had to work hard. I’m just working to get back.”
