The communications director for the New York City mayoral campaign of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner is apologizing for a lengthy profane and sexist tirade in which she dressed down a former intern, calling her phrases used as derogatory slang for female body parts and saying she “sucked” at her job.

Former intern Olivia Nuzzi recently appeared on the cover of the New York Daily News and wrote a piece in which she said many people only joined the campaign to get closer to Mr. Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, who is close to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, among other alleged foibles of Mr. Weiner’s campaign.

Ms. Nuzzi also called out communications director Barbara Morgan by name, who she wrote “last worked as the press secretary for the New Jersey state education commissioner.”

In an epic rant to the website Talking Points Memo, Ms. Morgan dressed down Ms. Nuzzi in response, saying that she was an intern for only four weeks and routinely missed work.

She sarcastically — and profanely — complimented Ms. Nuzzi for her “glamour shot” on the cover of the Daily News, adding “man, see if you ever get a job in this town again. … I’m not joking, I am going to sue her.”

Ms. Nuzzi declined to comment for TPM’s story.

In a statement to Business Insider, Ms. Morgan apologized for the remarks.

“In a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off-the-record conversation,” she said. “It was wrong, and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and emailed Olivia to apologize.”
