Tennessee Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn took strong exception on Tuesday to an MSNBC host who asked her if she was putting her objections to the new health care before her love for the country.

“Just listen to the way you’re sounding, my goodness … what you are doing is so inappropriate,” Ms. Blackburn, said in response to host Thomas Roberts’ question.

Republicans are taking a hit in the polls over perceptions their push to delay or repeal aspects of Obamacare led to the government shutdown and a threat to default on the nation’s debts — a notion that conservative lawmakers strongly object to.

Ms. Blackburn said Democrats were the ones responsible for the government shutdown and that Republicans didn’t want to let a law they view as harmful — the Affordable Care Act — to move forward and wreak havoc with the health care system.
