Former Clinton campaign chairman and longtime confidante Terry McAuliffe gave a stark behind-the-scenes look at the operation of the Democratic Party’s top players this morning.
McAuliffe, tired from long night and early morning, described the source of his weariness — tongue in cheek, of course: the Clintons.

“So last night was I was in the hall, I get there at 4:15 [a.m.], I get back at midinight, so I had a long 18-hour day.
“Finally, I get my head down, I get a call. It’s Hillary [Clinton]. She says, ‘Come on up; let’s have one drink to celebrate.’ So I actually went up to drink with Hillary for three hours. So I got 45 minutes [of sleep] last night.
[laughter]
“These Clintons are ruining me!”
The Virginia delegation laughed all through McAuliffe’s impromptu comedy routine.
