I went to a Harrisburg Senators game Tuesday night, and it happened to be Hershey Bears night at the ballpark on City Island. Members of the Bears championship team were on hand, with the Calder Cup, carrying it around the field before the game and then on display throughout the game at the ballpark, which is being renovated.

Someone for Washington Nationals fans to keep their eye on in Harrisburg — shortstop Ian Desmond. He is back after being out for several weeks following hand surgery, and looks impressive, hitting a three-run home run Tuesday night against Binghamton. It was his third home run of the season, in 16 games, with nine RBI and a .333 average. He looked quick and smooth on the field as well. On Wednesday night, he had a grand slam home run.

Also, the winner in Wednesday night’s 8-1 win over Binghamton was Carlos Martinez, who gave up one run over 6 1/3 innings. Keep a watch on him as well. He is a converted reliever who is 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA.
