Jeff Overton‘s parents couldn’t make the trip from Evansville, Ind., to see their son play at AT&T National. So his buddy’s folks happily filled in.

Bob and Judy Ockenfuss, whose son Rob was a teammate of Jeff’s at Indiana, drove down from their home in Perkasie, Pa., to watch Overton compete at Congressional.

Dressed in matching khaki “Indiana Golf” visors, the Ockenfusses followed their adopted kin for the full 18 holes Saturday afternoon.

They said that Rob, who now works for American Junior Golf in Atlanta, and Jeff remain close despite the distance (Overton lives in Evansville) and talk often.

When Bob was in Georgia visiting his son in May, he noticed that Jeff was playing in the Atlanta Golf Classic and went out to the course to watch Overton play a practice round and chat.

“I think it was nice for Jeff,” Judy said. “He was kind of struggling then.”
