With Antawn Jamison out with what has now been classified as a bone spur in his right ankle, and Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood chosing not to play, the Wizards will be shorthanded yet again tonight when they take on the Boston Celtics.
The Wizards will start Javaris Crittenton and Dominic McGuire in the back court and Caron Butler, Darius Songaila and JaVale McGee in the front court. It’s the 21st different starting lineup this season for the Wizards.
As far as Jamison’s injury, it’s something that just sort of popped up. He originally suffered from it in the Cleveland game back on April 2. He had experienced some additional discomfort off and on but felt fine during Monday’s game then out of nowhere during the fourth quarter came a debilitating pain. “It’s hard to even describe what it feels like,” Jamison said in the locker room just a bit ago. “But, you can’t even hardly walk with it.” The Wizards had some X-rays done and they showed a spur protruding into some of the tissue around his ankle, causing the pain. Jamison and the team are going to get a few second opinions on the ankle and see if surgery is required or if there is some other sort of treatment that can help the problem without surgery.
