The Wizards are preparing to take on the Spurs in San Antonio tomorrow, but in a little news back here on the home front (where I’m stuck for the next few days rather than on the road with the Wizards because of budget cuts) Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson said on Monday that he would be having surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back today, but it appears that the procedure now will likely take place on Friday, according to Wizards director of public relations Brian Sereno.

Sereno said the details are still being worked out, but that Stevenson’s surgery is expected to take place in the District.

And on another note … Not sure if anyone saw it or not, but Gilbert Arenas got his name in Sports Illustrated this past week, although for a rather unflattering reason. SI conducted it’s weekly players pole and asked 190 NBA players which player they would least like to have on their team. Stephon Marbury led hte way, receiving 22 percent of the vote. And Ron Artest trailed with 9 percent of the vote. Gilbert, Kobe Bryant and Stephen Jackson finished in a three-way tie for third place, each receiving 5 percent of the vote. Wow. I guess the only consolation the player formerly known as Agent Zero can take from this is at least he’s paired Kobe.
