Redskins right tackle Jon Jansen, who has lost his starting job to second-year player Stephon Heyer, reacted to the news after practice today.

“I’m disappointed that I won’t be out there,” he said. “I still believe myself to be the right tackle here and it’s not going to be that way on Thursday and that’s what I have to deal with.”

Jansen said his ankle — injured in the Carolina preseason game — is healthy. He worked at left guard in practice. Coach Jim Zorn said after practice the move isn’t just a one-week thing. Jansen missed the final 15 games last year because of a broken ankle and the Redskins coaches weren’t happy with his pass blocking this preseason.

Said Jansen: “There were some reasons thrown around, nothing I felt was reason enough but they’re the coaches and I’m the player. I’ll go out there and do what I’m supposed to do.”
