Running back Rock Cartwright did not practice this morning. Coach Jim Zorn said it “sore rib cartilage,” but Cartwright said he has torn cartilage in his rib cage. He said it happened in the game Sunday and it is more a day-to-day feel thing than any specific rehab time. Cartwright didn’t want to commit one way or another about Saturday’s game, but don’t expect his participation to be extensive.

Shawn Springs did not return to practice, but Zorn said he could still play some Saturday. Rookie safety Chris Horton also did not come back this morning. Anthony Montgomery got into some 11-on-11 action with the second d-line group.

There was plenty of talk about Brett Favre. Wisconsin native Casey Rabach, who has family members with Packers season tickets, said the whole situation was surreal and he is surprised at how evenly split the fan base is when it comes to choosing sides in the fiasco.

Also, fullback Pete Schmitt “hung it up” on his own after one day of practice, according to Zorn. Hopfeully, he doesn’t change his mind and then try to orchestrate a trade upon his return.
